- How to Win
To claim victory in Checkmate, your team needs to meet one of the following conditions:
- Instant Victory: Destroy the enemy team's Queen Turret within 3-minutes.
- Overtime Victory: If neither turret falls within 3 minutes, the match heads into Overtime (30 seconds)! The first team to destroy the enemy's Queen Turret in Overtime wins immediately!
- HP Comparison: If Overtime ends with both turrets still standing, the team with the higher remaining HP percentage on their turret takes the win. If HP is perfectly equal, the match ends in a Draw!

Note: Keep one eye on the enemy turret and the other on your own, never get so caught up pushing their base that you leave yours wide open! |

- Queen Turret, The Heart of the Battle
Each team has a Queen Turret stationed on either the left or right side of the map. Colored to match your team and designed to resemble a rook chess piece, the Queen Turret is your very own NPC guardian — automatically fighting to defend your team throughout the match!
3.1 What Does the Queen Turret Look Like?
- Color: Matches your team color (yours or the enemy's) - easy to spot at a glance!
- Location: Stationed at the center of the left or right edge of the map
- Attack Range: A half-circle marked with a dotted border in your team's color, clearly visible on the battlefield
3.2. How Does the Turret Attack?
The Queen Turret fights fully on its own - and it hits hard:
- Basic Attack: The turret swivels its cannon and locks onto enemies. Once a target is acquired, the shot will land even if the enemy tries to run out of range!
- Special Attack: Once the special gauge is full, the turret unleashes a devastating AoE blast dealing 2x the Basic Attack's damage, and it can even reach targets outside the normal firing range!
- AMMO: Each shot costs 1 AMMO, which regenerates automatically over time
- Special Charge: Charges up automatically from the start of the match. Once full, the turret's next shot will be a Special Attack - make sure your enemies are in position!
3.3. Who Does the Turret Target First?
The Queen Turret is no pushover, it prioritizes targets with smart logic:
- Default: Targets the nearest enemy first. If two enemies are equally close, it goes for the one with lower HP
- When a target is eliminated: Automatically switches to the nearest enemy still in range
- Special Note: The turret can still target enemies hiding in bushes or turned invisible!
|
🎯 |
Note: The Queen Turret stays locked on its current target and won't switch unless the target is eliminated, moves out of range, or becomes untargetable. Choose your positioning wisely! |

- Turret Range and Buff/Debuff Effects
When you or an enemy steps into a Queen Turret's range, things start to heat up:
|

Inside Your Own Turret’s Range |

|
Cookies from Your Team |
Gain a Buff (power boost) |
Take a Debuff (disadvantage) |
|

💡 |
Note: Fight within your own turret's range to keep that Buff active and whenever possible, bait enemies out of their turret's range before engaging. |

- Berserk Mode!
Watch out! When a Queen Turret's HP drops to 20% or lower, it enters Berserk Mode - becoming stronger and far more dangerous than before! Push hard before it reaches that threshold, or brace yourself for the fury that follows!
How to Tell:
- The turret's HP bar turns red and flashes repeatedly.
- The turret's texture glows a fierce, fiery red.
- Its firing speed noticeably increases.

- Strategy and Tips
Early Game
- Split your team wisely: 2 attackers pushing forward and 1 defender or hybrid defender holding the base
- Grab Spell Cards as they spawn, priority targets are the Summon Catapult or Turret Shield cards!
- Start fights inside your own turret's range first to pick up the Buff before engaging the enemy

Mid Game
- Keep a close eye on the enemy turret's HP bar - once it's creeping toward Berserk (under 20%), push the attack harder and finish the job before it powers up!
- If your own turret drops into Berserk Mode, shift focus to defense and make the most of its boosted firepower - turn the desperation into an advantage!
- Never send all 3 players diving in at once - always keep someone back to hold down the defense!

Late Game / Overtime
- Ahead on HP? Play it safe and lock down the defense - protect what you've earned!
- Behind on HP? Go all in on the enemy turret - this is your last shot, leave nothing on the table!
- Overtime is only 30 seconds? Every second counts, so play decisively and make every move matter!
