1. Role Breakdown
In Checkmate, every Cookie fills a specific role. Understanding these roles helps your team split responsibilities wisely and get the most out of your Queen Turret’s power:
Role |
Description |
Frontline |
Soaks up hits, pulls enemies away from the tower, opens the path to attack |
Damage |
Main damage output, takes down enemies and chips away at the enemy Turret’s HP |
Support |
Heals and buffs the team, boosts overall combat effectiveness |
Control |
Slows or locks down enemies to stop them from attacking your home Turret |
Hybrid |
Versatile, can flexibly deal damage while backing up the team |
♟ |
With 3 players per team, it's ideal to have at least 1 Frontline or Support Cookie. Avoid an all Damage lineup, since it gets shredded the moment the enemy counterattacks. |
2. Team Building Principles
Before picking a specific lineup, keep these principles in mind:
- Always keep someone on defense: Even while attacking, at least 1 player should stay near your home Turret.
- Make use of your Turret’s range: Fight inside your own turret’s range to pick up its Buff. Lure enemies into your Turret’s range and let it finish them off.
- Prioritize Spell Cards: Especially important for attack-heavy teams. Spell Cards let you summon a Catapult or throw up a Shield to reduce the tower's incoming damage.
- Watch for Berserk: Once the enemy Turret’s HP hits 20%, push hard. Once your own Turret is low, switch to defense immediately.
- Split roles clearly: Any lineup falls apart if all 3 players rush in at once, or all 3 turtle up on defense.
⚔️ |
Golden rule, 2-1: 2 players attack the enemy Turret while 1 stays back on defense, or 1 lures enemies out while 2 break the Turret. Never leave your home Turret "alone"! |
3. Recommended Lineups

✅ Strengths
⚠️ Weaknesses
💡 |
Strategy: Have your Frontline pull enemies away, then snipe from range while your Support keeps the heals coming. Try to fight inside your own Turret's range so the whole team keeps picking up the Buff! |

TEAM 2 – BLITZ ASSAULT Break the enemy Turret as fast as possible before they can counter |
Difficulty: ⭐⭐☆ Medium – Needs Good Coordination | Playstyle: Aggro / Burst |

✅ Strengths
⚠️ Weaknesses
💡 |
Strategy: Have all 3 players push the enemy Turret right from the start. CC the enemy, follow with wide AoE, then burn down both enemies and the Turret with damage over time. Keep 1 person guarding home while the rest push! |

TEAM 3 – PERFECT BALANCE Flexible for any situation, strong on both offense and defense |

✅ Strengths
⚠️ Weaknesses
💡 |
Dark Choco Cookie opens the fight, Espresso Cookie draws enemies into the danger zone, then Peppermint Cookie or GingerBrave buffs before the whole team pushes together. Once your home Turret gets low, switch fully to defense and make the most of its boosted power! |
TEAM 4 – SUMMONER Summon "Troops" to bait the Turret's fire while your Cookies deal the damage |
Difficulty: ⭐⭐⭐ Hard – Needs Price Teamwork | Playstale: Control / Strategic |
Cookie |
Role |
Mission |
Strawberry Crepe Cookie |
Frontline |
On top of summoning WaffleBot to soak Turret damage really well and deal slow and area-of-effect damage, Strawberry Crepe Cookie's "Knockback" ability makes it a great fit for either offense or defense. |
Red Velvet Cookie |
Control |
Strong on defense with pulls, stuns, and the ability to summon a cake hound to guard the turret. On top of that, the cake hound also draws a good amount of the enemy Turret's fire, making Red Velvet Cookie a solid pick for both attack and defense. |
String Cheese Cookie / Licorice Cookie |
Hybrid |
These two Cookies' "Troop" and "Turret" summon ultimates make things very tough for the enemy, whether they're attacking or defending. On top of that, these summons also draw a good chunk of enemy damage, giving your teammates an opening to deal damage. |
✅ Strengths
⚠️ Weaknesses
💡 |
Strawberry Crepe Cookie and WaffleBot move into your home Turret's range, then Licorice Cookie and String Cheese Cookie adapt on the fly, working together to defend home and break the enemy Turret. Use the summons to soak up Turret damage and create openings for your team to break through. |
